AJANé J.K. CELESTIN

Although her career is young, Ajané leads her company Aeon Dream Studios in all creative aspects, effectively acting as a game auteur over ADS’ content.

Originally beginning her professional writing career as a freelance games journalist, Ajané realized a creative job was the path she wanted to go. Always having an interest in game development and passion for writing since she was a child, after meeting her writing partner in 2015, she began the visual novel game development studio Aeon Dream Studios.

Self-taught in creative writing and graphic design, Ajané picked up game script writing, art direction, character design, music supervising, programming, and management along the way.

In addition to taking over the main writing for ADS’ visual novels, Ajané is now focusing her efforts on authoring two books, To the Edge of the Sky: The Novel (2019), a novelization based off the events of ADS’ popular game, on and her first original novel Between Heaven and Hell (working title, 2019) that she has been planning for the past eleven years.

Ajané spent her childhood as an ardent reader of hundreds of books, receiving awards in school for her dedication. She naturally moved to writing, encouraged by her 5th grade teacher, and even helped edit other students work.

Ajané practiced her craft during her teenage years by writing both original fiction and fan fiction and releasing it online. Although she did well in school at it and enjoyed it and books, she looked to other careers such as game design as ideal careers instead. By the time Ajané reached 19, she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life, but remembered how much others had encouraged her to do writing.

Ajané tried college courses in creative writing, but dropped out when they couldn’t teach her anything new. She then turned to games journalism and began her path a paid writer and editor. Since working on ADS’ visual novel games, Ajané has advanced her skill in the craft and wants to continue to work on mastering it by branching out into the field of written novels next.

Ajané had always been most inspired by the designs of Tetsuya Nomura since coming upon them in Final Fantasy VIII at the age of 12. Though not confident in her drawing ability, she continued to have a dream of creating her own designs. She unexpectedly got the chance after creating her own game studio. Ajané dreams up and draws the designs, chooses the references and works with freelance artists to actualize them and all other art in the game.

As an ardent fan of music that incorporates it into her life as much as possible, and with some experience in being a musician herself, Ajané naturally took over the music supervising for all ADS games.

Though finding free or low-cost music for the small budget was a challenge, Ajané managed to find the perfect song for every scene in their games. Though pulled from many different artists, the games’ OSTs became an unexpected hit with fans as they praised the quality of the music selection and the ability of each song to capture the atmosphere and emotions in each scene.

Ajané has often said that choosing the music is one of her favorite parts of game design. Ajané now shares her music recommendations on Twitter through her #XelMusic tag.

Graphic Design Work

Ajané began working with Photoshop on her own as a hobby as a teenager. Using it only to express herself, she didn’t imagine she would later end up doing professional UI work. Below is some of her work.
